University of Warwick - Department of Chemistry

Fixed-Term contract: Initially for 36 months with a possibility of extension.

Part-time role: 0.5 FTE (18.25 working hours per week). Formal pattern of working hours and days to be agreed, but to be within usual working hours of the University: Monday – Friday 9 am – 5 pm.

The Department of Chemistry is seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual to provide full administrative and secretarial support to Prof. David Haddleton and Prof. Sébastien Perrier and their groups.

You will possess excellent communication and organisation skills, and a high level of competence in the use of IT, including electronic diary management and MS Office (outlook, word, excel, PowerPoint), and basic web page construction/maintenance using a content management system. You will have the aptitude to provide personalised support to senior members of academic staff with a wide range of internal and external commitments, including an expansive portfolio of national and international scientific collaborations. Knowledge or previous experience of working in a chemical, materials or biological science environment would be an advantage.

Educated to at least A-level standard or equivalent, you will have previous experience or demonstrated potential to provide administrative and secretarial support to senior staff. You will have a demonstrated ability to use your initiative and work autonomously while showing strong potential to engage effectively with a large multi-national and highly interdisciplinary team. Accuracy and attention to detail are crucial, alongside strong interpersonal skills that allow you to build professional relationships and interact effectively with a wide range of individuals, including undergraduates, PhD students, research staff, academic colleagues and scientific collaborators. You will act with tact and discretion at all times.
