A research associate position is available to work on a project examining vascular growth factor therapy for polycystic kidney disease. The role, following on from previous work (Huang et al J Am Soc Nephrol 2016 27: 69-77) will be to investigate how treatments using proteins which restore and stabilise changes in small blood vessels slow the progressive decline of polycystic kidneys. The post holder will investigate this area using renal gene therapy, high resolution imaging, high-throughput sequencing technology and models which replicate polycystic kidney disease. The post is funded for 24 months by the Medical Research Council and will be based in Dr David Long’s kidney development and disease group.

The post-holder will hold a PhD or equivalent in a relevant biomedical subject.  Experience of research in a biomedical setting, carrying out literature searches, critical appraisal of research papers, molecular/cellular research skills (tissue culture, FACS analysis, histology, imaging) and animal handling is essential
