Full Time, Permanent - Senior Staff

We are seeking a confident and highly experienced CCAB qualified Head of Finance and Planning for the University's central directorates which include IT, Finance, Academic and Student Services, Marketing and Communications, Strategic Planning and Project Management services to the University. You must be able to demonstrate the ability to deliver continuous improvement and have a proven track record in improving business efficiency and value for money working at all levels of a large and complex organisation. You should have excellent communication and IT skills and demonstrate innovation and business insightfulness.

The post offers 30 days annual leave excluding bank holidays and closure between Christmas and New Year. You will be responsible for:

  • Developing, implementing and monitoring a sustainable financial strategy and business plans for the Directorates
  • Leading the review of the new resource allocation model for the directorates and agree options and solutions with Director of Finance and Legal Services and senior finance colleagues
  • Preparing explanation for Executive Board, and standard processes to maintain the agreed allocation model
  • Leading financial management of the directorates ensuring that resources are optimised to deliver the directorates strategy
  • Identifying opportunities for efficiencies in staffing and other resource changes within the directorates and develop options for the directors and senior colleagues to consider
  • Leading the planning cycle (financial forecasts and non-financial KPIs) for the directorates and act as key contact to the lead for financial planning and consolidation in the central finance team and the Strategic Change and Planning office
  • As a member of the central finance senior management team providing both high quality action orientated management information and professional strategic financial and planning advice to colleagues.

You should have:

  • Full professional accountancy qualification
  • Significant post qualification experience
  • Wide experience at a strategic and financial operational level
  • Proven experience of supporting senior colleagues and managing and developing a team of professional staff
  • Proven experience of strategic and financial planning
  • Proven experience of managing complex and large £m budgets
  • Project planning and monitoring experience at a strategic and operational level
