This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious graduate with the ability and confidence to manage a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) project with Barrnon Ltd.

The University of Manchester and Barrnon Ltd are looking to recruit a Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineer to undertake this 33 month project which has an overall aim of developing, embedding and exploiting advanced mechanical engineering capability for the design and development, of a sludge removal system based upon Barrnon Bladecutter technology tailored to meet the unique requirements of the Fukushima decommissioning site.

The position will provide the successful candidate with a unique opportunity to work within a rapidly expanding company, to develop innovative technologies for the nuclear industry and to collaborate with internationally renowned academics at the University of Manchester.

You will require a PhD in Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent OR be able to demonstrate the relevant skills required.

This post is funded through a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) award, a UK Government scheme intended to promote sustained and mutually beneficial relationships between universities and industry. 

Based at Barrnon Ltd, Appleby Westmorland, Cumbria, the successful candidate will work directly with supervisors from both the University and Barrnon Ltd and will use the facilities and resources of both organisations.
