Teaching Associate in Midwifery (three positions available - various contract types)

We wish to offer development opportunities through appointments to our dynamic academic midwifery team for Teaching Associates (Grade 4).  Through innovative teaching, the Division of Midwifery provides high quality education across a range of academic levels.The Division also includes a team engaged in research related to midwifery and maternity provision. Successful applicants will be expected to: make a significant contribution to undergraduate midwifery education programmes; support global engagement and demonstrate commitment to research-informed education. Teaching Associates are expected to provide support to students in academic and placement environments, establish effective relationships with external partners and service users. Our linkages with NHS services require the post holders to be able to deliver the programme and support students across a wide geographical area.

We are seeking midwives who are registered with the UK Nursing and Midwifery Council. The posts will enable development of the knowledge and skills necessary for a career in Higher Education in a creative and committed academic team. Midwives wishing to apply for Teaching Associate posts must hold a Master’s degree (or almost completed their programme) in midwifery or a related subject. In addition applicants must be willing to undertake a programme of study for the Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education.

The School:

The University of Nottingham’s School of Health Sciences is part of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and aims to be a centre of national and international excellence in research, education and practice development. The School has an excellent record in learning and teaching which has resulted in a number of staff being awarded National and University Teaching awards. The School has 350 academic and support staff and consists of two main education centres over 3,000 urban and rural square miles, providing pre-registration and post-registration, degree and higher degree courses. In addition, the School’s research is highly rated by the Research Excellence Framework.

There are three positions available based on different contract types:

Position one: full time, permanent

Position two: full time, fixed term for 18 months

Position three: part time (29 hours per week), permanent
