Biological Services Unit Manager

This post is required to manage a UCL Biological Services facility. In this instance, the unit is based at Clare Hall (South Mimms, Potters Bar). Frequent interaction with other Biological Services Units (BSUs) and regular visits to the main campus will be required. The post holder will ensure the highest standards of laboratory animal welfare within the appropriate legal framework, e.g. Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986 Amendment Regulations 2012 (referred to as ASPA), as well as ensuring that animals and facilities are available to research users as required and where practicable.

The successful applicant must hold a Home Office Licence and have experience of processing Project Licences. Applicants must be fully conversant with transgenic technology including knowledge and experience of the breeding, maintenance and tracking of colonies. Practical knowledge of safety regulations and policies relating to animal research is required. The ideal candidate should possess a Degree or other animal related appropriate qualification.
