Lecturer in Contour Fashion

De Montfort University - School of Design

De Montfort University is looking to appoint a Lecturer in Contour Fashion within the School of Design – a School that brings together the key subjects of Fashion, Textiles, Product, Furniture, Crafts, and Interior design. The School incorporates undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD study with excellence in teaching, research, and design consultancy.

Contour Fashion at De Montfort University has a global reputation for producing high calibre graduates in the specialist field of lingerie, swimwear, sportswear, and corsetry. We have a requirement for a dynamic and forward thinking individual to join our existing Contour Fashion team of industry specialists as a lecturer to teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

With a degree and proven industrial experience of working within Contour Fashion, you will have an excellent understanding of the subject area and a thorough knowledge of design processes for contemporary and innovative contour fashion coupled with a creative flair. Experience of using CAD software (specifically Lectra Modaris) for pattern development and grading would be advantageous.

You will engage with teaching on undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and will require excellent communication and inter-personal skills. Teaching experience is desirable, but not essential; however, an understanding and interest in Contour Fashion within the context of Higher Education would be a distinct advantage for all applicants.

You will be expected to make a substantial contribution to the academic and reputational development of the Contour Fashion Subject Area and to engage in scholarly research.

You will be highly motivated and passionate about Contour Fashion and the challenge of inspiring the next generation of designers. A commitment to working within a team and building on the successes of the Contour Fashion Subject Area is essential.
