The Learning and Teaching Institute (LTI) is one of two departments within Academic Quality and Enhancement, the other being Academic Quality Support Services. The LTI team works with and supports colleagues in Faculties and Departments across the University to enhance the quality and standards of our academic provision through developing excellence in academic practice. 

Study Skills Advisers are part of a team within the Learning and Teaching Institute and are responsible for developing seminars and workshops in academic study skills, producing resources to support the development of undergraduate and post-graduate study skills and delivering one-to-one study skills support for undergraduate and post-graduate students. Study Skills Advisers also work in collaboration with academic staff to develop and embed students’ study skills within the curriculum and to enhance student retention, success and satisfaction. 

The post holder will hold a good undergraduate degree, preferably a higher degree, have excellent IT skills and be able to demonstrate excellent team-working skills. A recognised teaching qualification is desirable, and experience of undergraduate teaching or experience of providing study skills, literacy or numeracy support at HE or advanced FE level is essential.

The post holder will be centrally based but may be allocated a particular faculty, with duties on any site. As the post holder is expected to be able to work flexibly across all University campuses and nursing sites, a current UK driving licence or willingness to travel is essential.
