About the role

Bath School of Art & Design wishes to appoint a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Historical and Critical Studies to teach across the School’s portfolio of creative practice disciplines. We are seeking candidates with an ability to contextualise practice from historical and theoretical perspectives, and with experience in teaching and coordinating modules. There will be a focus on the disciplines taught in the Subject Field of Design, which currently include Fashion Design, Graphic Communication, and Textile Design for Fashion Interiors, with plans to include Furniture and Product Design and Digital Animation. An understanding of creative practice more broadly together with experience in teaching across the disciplines of Art and Design would be an advantage. We seek candidates who are able to engage students with the theoretical and cultural issues of their practices in art and design and can foster an enquiring, rigorous, and research-based approach to learning.

About you (requirements)

A higher degree in Art or Design (practice or theory). Recent, successful experience of university level teaching and coordination in this subject area. Exhibition/publication in this area with a track record in research and/or scholarship – particularly where this has clearly enriched your teaching, underpinned curricular developments, and/or enhanced the student experience. Excellent ICT skills including e-learning tools.
