Research Fellow in Agriculture and Environmental Modelling

We are seeking to appoint a Research Fellow in Agriculture & Environmental Modelling, who will contribute to two projects funded by the Wellcome Trust: FUture Diets And Health (FUDAH) and Sustainable Food Systems in India (SAHDI), both led by Professor Alan Dangour. The successful applicant will join an interdisciplinary team at LSHTM working on environment, agriculture, trade, nutrition and health.  

The work will be varied and require subject expertise in at least one of the following areas: environmental change, agriculture, trade economics and mathematical modelling.  The postholder will contribute to the development of an analytical framework linking environment, agriculture, trade, nutrition and health; construct databases to test scenarios in case-study countries; and conduct modelling and uncertainty analyses.  

The successful candidate will have a PhD in a related discipline/subject, experience of systems analysis and/or mathematical modelling and proven expertise in working with large and complex datasets and matching data sources. Further particulars are included in the attached job description.

The post is available full-time commencing as soon as possible for 12 months, with a possibility of extension depending on funding. The salary will be on the LSHTM Academic Support Pathway Grade 6 scale, in the range £38,533 to £40,380 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service.  Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Director’s Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available.
