We currently have vacancies for 3 semester time only and 2 all year round Shelving Assistants at the Headington Library in the John Henry Brookes Building at the Headington Campus. Ensuring that library books are returned quickly to the shelves and kept in the right order underpins the success of our borrowing and reservations services for our students.

You will be:

  • sorting, carrying, shelving and tidying books, journals and other library materials
  • moving loaded trolleys
  • working as part of a team

You should have:

  • numeracy and literacy to GCSE standard
  • the ability to work methodically and accurately, with good attention to detail
  • an understanding of the way in which libraries are organized
  • good timekeeping and reliability

Contracts are for 10 hours per week, worked in a regular pattern over 5 days per week:

Pattern A: Sundays 11.45 - 13.45, Mondays - Thursdays 08.00 - 10.00 
Pattern B: Tuesdays - Fridays 08.00 - 10.00, Saturdays 11.45 - 13.45 
Pattern C: Mondays to Fridays 08.00 - 10.00

The academic year is based on 2 semesters and patterns A and B are available either for 27 or 29 weeks per annum. Pattern C is offered either as an all year round contract or for 27 or 29 weeks per annum.
