Lecturer (Above-the-bar) in Medical Biostatistics (Clinical Trials)

The College of Medicine, Nursing & Health Sciences (CMNHS), in conjunction with the HRB Clinical Research Facility, Galway (CRFG), wishes to appoint a Lecturer in Medical Biostatistics.  The successful applicant will hold a Ph.D in Statistics/Biostatistics, have relevant prior teaching and study methodological experience, evidence of team leadership, and a record of relevant research and publication.

The HRB-CRFG was established in 2008 and provides the infrastructure, the physical space, facilities and expertise needed to support patient-focused research studies aimed at understanding a range of diseases and bringing the research work in these areas to the patient as speedily as possible. The HRB-CRFG is broadly comprised of Clinical and Biometrics (Data Management and Biostatistics) Units with additional supporting roles, involving multidisciplinary teams focused on clinical research at both the national and international levels.

The Biostatistics Unit at the HRB-CRFG is responsible for methodological advances in research in Biostatistics and in the development and application of appropriate statistical modelling techniques by supporting clinical and translational researchers in the preparation of grant applications, study design, statistical support and analysis.  The successful candidate will play a prominent role in furthering the teaching, research and scholarship agenda of the HRB-CRFG, CMNHS and wider research community. The successful candidate will form part of a multidisciplinary team, with a focus on Clinical Trial statistics (including investigational medicinal products and medical devices), thereby contributing to the continuing evolution of the CRFG training and research agendas. Duties will include teaching, supervising, examining and other appropriate contributions to the broader scholarship and research activities of the HRB-CRFG.  S/he will also be expected to participate in the normal administrative work of the Unit.

The successful candidate will have a research track record in a field of relevance to clinical research statistics and study design.  S/he will have a track record in generating research funding and publication and will be expected to play a prominent role in meeting the Unit’s research agenda.

Salary: €63,059 to €79,173 p.a.

(This appointment will be made on the Lecturer (above the bar) scale in line with current Government pay policy).

(For pre 1995 public sector entrants in Ireland, the D class Salary rates will apply).
