The Faculty
The Kingston School of Art is recognised as one of the best art and design schools in teaching and research in Europe and in many areas in the world.

This leading position is confirmed in the subject rankings, research performance, industry and student awards and in high-profile brands and institutions that choose to work with us.

The School began life as Kingston School of Art in 1875 and is reclaiming that name in 2017. As well as commemorating the 142-year legacy of art and design teaching at Kingston, the name change also reflects our passion for transformative art school education which supports students to risk and to innovate.

The School is committed to helping students interpret, form and improve the world through their work. Teaching is guided by two principles: that students learn by developing their proposals through the making process; and that students are already practitioners in their chosen subjects and therefore engaged in their critical development. The School works with leading brands and on the most contemporary issues, and participates in national and international projects, showcases, competitions and symposia. Students exhibit their work at professional showcases such as D&AD New Blood, New Designers, Graduate Fashion Week and numerous art and film screenings.
