The Royal College of Art is the world’s most influential institution of university status devoted to the study of art, design, humanities and communication and has an international reputation for excellence in teaching, practice and research. The College has some 1,780 students following postgraduate courses and staff, both full- and part-time, totaling approximately 400.

The facilities and technical equipment on offer at the College are among the best of their kind in the world, supporting students in their explorations of the creative possibilities of the new and the traditional, and the interplay between them. As Technical Instructor in Ceramic & Glass, you will be expected to confidently engage with students from disciplines across the College on a daily basis, providing technical support, advice and demonstrations within the Ceramic & Glass workshops. You will be a talented and dynamic individual, passionate about Ceramics & Glass, who thrives in a busy and creative workshop. You must be able to evaluate, deliver and communicate innovative solutions to technically complex creative ideas and give appropriate feedback. You should have significant specialist knowledge in the safe use and general maintenance of specialist cold glass equipment and tools. An interest for contemporary art, design and culture would be highly desirable.

You must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and experience of monitoring and maintain a safe working environment in accordance with H&S policies and procedures. You will have excellent organisational skills and the ability to use initiative to work independently or as part of a team. Good time management skills and the ability to work flexibly are essential.
