Stipendiary Lecturer in French

Merton College proposes to appoint a Stipendiary Lecturer in French for Hilary and Trinity terms 2018 (1 January to 30 September 2018).

Salary £13,023 for the duration of the appointment. The Lecturer will also be entitled to free meals.

The main duties of the post will be: to teach undergraduates reading French for up to eight hours per week in full term, and to assist in the co-ordination of the subjects involving French in the College.

The successful candidate will have completed or be about to complete a doctorate in the modern period of French literature (1789-present), and will be able to provide teaching in French language at all levels; 1st-year ‘Prelims’ Literature Papers III (Short Texts) and IV (Narrative Fiction); and 2nd- and 4th-year Final Honours School literature papers in the modern period. The ability to provide effective tutorial teaching to high-achieving undergraduates is essential.
