Postdoctoral Research Assistant

Applications are sought for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant (PDRA) to join the newly established Pancreatic Cancer UK Grand Challenge Team. The successful applicant will aid in the development of novel Chimeric Antigen Receptor modified T (CAR-T) cells and implement these into advanced immunotherapy strategies. The research will be based in the Centre for Tumour Biology, Barts Cancer Institute, within the Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary, University of London.

Essential requirements for this post include knowledge of cancer cell biology and advanced molecular techniques. Experience with CAR-T cell technology (e.g. cloning and cytotoxicity assays), relevant pre-clinical in vivo models including non-invasive imaging techniques (e.g. bioluminescence, MRI), and histological and cytometric analysis of the tumour microenvironment (e.g. immuno-histochemistry, flow cytometry) would be an advantage. A demonstrated ability to communicate well, work within a team and maintain good laboratory records are also essential.

The post is full time and fixed term for 36 months. Starting salary will be in the range Research Grade 4, spinal point 27-29 (£32,956 -£34,764) per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, a defined benefit pension scheme and an interest free season ticket loan.

The Barts Cancer Institute requires that applicants invited for interview will need to provide all certificates to confirm their qualifications (specified in the Job Description).

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
