Intellectual Property Executive

Location: South Kensington campus  

An exciting opportunity exists to join the Intellectual Property Team in Imperial’s Research Office, to contribute to the College’s overall Intellectual Property (IP) management process by providing professional expertise in the identification, capture and review of IP and related data.   The post holder will carry out comprehensive due diligence reviews to help ensure the College is able to fulfil its contractual obligations and will interface with the Faculties, Enterprise, College’s IP commercialisation partner, Imperial Innovations and other teams in the College Research Office on all matters associated with maximising exploitation opportunities. Particular focus will be on managing existing third party IP obligations as well as any licences granted to Imperial’s research sponsors.  

This position requires an in-depth knowledge and a proven track record of intellectual property management as well as contract experience.  You will be educated to degree level (or equivalent) and have a strong scientific, medical or software background.  You will also have strong project management and communication skills, be a proactive self-starter and have a good track record in negotiation.

Experience of working in a similar role in an institute of higher education would be highly desirable as would an awareness of the challenges facing universities in their interactions with the business sector.

The College cannot normally apply for a Certificate of Sponsorship for this post under Tier 2 of the UKVI’s Points Based System.
