Lecturer in Accounting (Teaching & Scholarship)

Queen Mary University of London - School of Business & Management

Candidates will be expected to have a completed doctorate (or have a doctorate under examination) by December 2017 and be able to demonstrate the capacity for excellent teaching in a UK university context. All applicants should be able to demonstrate the capacity to teach and supervise effectively across our main undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Applicants will be expected to provide evidence of their teaching abilities. We will consider applications from any field of accounting but are particularly interested in candidates able to teach in the areas of corporate reporting, corporate finance or management accounting.

The School is strongly committed to the development of all its staff and we will ensure that the successful candidate has the opportunity to develop their teaching and administrative skills. Teaching and scholarship appointments are normally expected to undertake an administrative role but you will be given appropriate reductions in teaching to allow you the time to carry out any role.

Additionally, you will have access to a full range of professional development support, including an annual allowance to support your scholarship or pedagogical activities. Queen Mary provides comprehensive and clear promotion routes for Teaching and Scholarship staff up to and including the academic rank of Professor.

The post is full time and fixed term for two years. Applicants who wish to be considered for a job-share arrangement or for flexible working are welcome. The School is proud of its long-standing commitment to diversity and equality, applied for an Athena Swan award in April 2017 in recognition of this. Queen Mary is committed to improving the gender and cultural diversity of its workforce and welcomes applicants from all sections of the community.

Starting salary will be in the range £40,865 - £50,881 per annum per annum inclusive of London Allowance and include 30 days annual leave, USS pension scheme membership, and interest-free travel season ticket loan.

As part of your online application should include a CV plus a brief outline of your research plans and evidence of your teaching (for example recent evaluations and teaching awards or other recognition). Shortlisted candidates will be asked to present to members of the School on their teaching experience. The post is available any time after 1st January 2018.
