Lecturer in Chemistry - 1.0FTE

The Department of Science, Natural Resources and Outdoor Studies is seeking to recruit a Lecturer in Chemistry able to utilise analytical techniques for forensic, toxicological or biomedical purposes.

The post holder will join a successful, experienced and ambitious teaching team with a reputation for innovation in course design and delivery. The team currently delivers Bachelor of Science programmes in Applied Chemistry, Radiation Protection, Biomedical Sciences, Forensic and Investigative Science and Zoology. The Department also supports delivery of programmes relating to the nuclear sector on the West Coast through partnerships with Gen2 and Lakes College.

The post holder will be required to contribute to the academic team through delivery of core chemistry modules across Programmes and year groups. They will also be expected to actively engage with professional and pedagogical research and scholarship to support teaching activities and extend, transform and apply knowledge acquired from scholarship to teaching and research.

The successful candidate will be an experienced scientist ideally with a PhD in either organic or inorganic chemistry, the ability to demonstrate lecturing experience in this area at HE level and a strong interest in developing teaching at undergraduate level.

As well as the requisite academic and technical skills the post holder will be required to evidence their ability to work as part of a team demonstrating skills in project and time management and a passion for teaching and learning. Dynamic, self-motivated and professional individuals would particularly suit this post, which will involve teaching in a broad subject area.

The Department of Science, Natural Resources and Outdoor Studies is one of seven departments within the University. Science is a specific growth area and the University have invested in facilities and resources to enable the Department to develop new programmes in the core life sciences.
