Senior Lecturer in Geography Education (Education and Research)

The role

We are seeking to appoint a new full time, permanent Senior Lecturer with a particular interest in geography education at both primary and secondary levels.

The post will include:

  • Writing grant applications and producing high quality research outputs.
  • Co-leading the specialist humanities pathway on our primary PGCE programme
  • Contributing to our humanities provision for all primary PGCE trainees
  • Being a Personal Tutor for a group of Primary PGCE trainees (including School Direct)
  • Acting as a University Visiting Tutor, observing trainees whilst on school placements
  • Lecturing on a range of our postgraduate programmes
  • Developing geography modules as part of MA (Ed) part-time programme
  • Supervising Masters and Doctoral (EdD and PhD) research students

About you

For a Senior Lecturer post you will have:

  • A PhD or equivalent in geography education and have an independent, internationally-recognised research programme in a relevant active field of research
  • A strong record in attracting funding for research, or demonstrate potential to attract such funding
  • An active approach to inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary research
  • Enthusiasm for delivering high quality postgraduate programmes
  • Strong connections and funded projects with business and community partners
  • Involvement in projects which develop impact
  • A strong potential for research leadership
  • A track record in refereed publications and success in significant grant capture
  • Relationships with external organisations and funders and knowledge and experience of key sectors and business challenges
