The University invites applications for the above posts which are available initially for 2 years, starting as soon as possible. Extension is likely subject to the progress of the projects.

The TWO research associates will join a large research team focusing on 1) development of ceramic composites for nuclear applications and 2) development of ceramic coatings for aeroengine applications. These projects will involve close collaboration with industry, e.g. Rolls-Royce and research organisations, e.g. National Nuclear Laboratory. The research will be focused on fabrication initially, and then the study will be carried out on charaterisation and performance of ceramic composites and coatings, respectively. Such ceramics are expected to be stable in harsh environments at high temperature, so degradation mechanisms of the ceramics at high temperature will be investigated.
