Scientific Programmer, InSAR (Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar) Services - Processor Development

University of Leeds - School of Earth and Environment

Are you a highly skilled scientific computer programmer? Do you have strong computer coding abilities, using languages such as PYTHON, C, and PERL? Do you have knowledge of radar processing?

The Centre for the Observation and Modelling of Earthquakes Volcanoes and Tectonics (COMET) is a NERC Centre of Excellence that uses satellite measurements alongside ground-based observations and geophysical models to study earthquakes and volcanoes, and help understand the hazards they pose.

Within COMET at the University of Leeds we are developing routine mass processing of InSAR data from the Sentinel-1 constellation to enable specialist and non-specialist scientists to study processing causing Earth deformation, particularly in tectonic and volcanic areas. You will be part of this team, funded largely through a NERC large grant.

You will have a Master’s degree and a PhD (or be close to obtaining) in physics, geophysics, engineering, mathematics, computer science or a related subject or equivalent industry experience. You will also have a high level of ability and experience in scientific computer programming and coding using languages such as FORTRAN, Python, IDL, C, ADA or PERL. Experience of writing software used in processing, interpreting and presenting InSAR data is desirable.
