We are now looking for an interim Head of External Communications to lead our important media, PR and stakeholder communications work. Reporting directly to the Director of HR and Communications, this role is part of the Corporate Communications leadership team, working alongside the Head of Marketing, Head of Digital and Head of Internal Communications. The role also requires strong working relationships with the University’s senior leadership team and collaboration with colleagues from across the University. The role requires a good honours degree in a relevant subject or equivalent experience.

In this varied and dynamic role, you will be responsible for the Media, PR and external communications function in the University’s department of Corporate Communications. Leading a team of eight, this role is primarily responsible for:

  • Ensuring the delivery of high-quality media and PR projects that support the University’s strategic objectives, reputation, research and student recruitment.
  • Supporting the management of the University’s external reputation through the delivery of strong stakeholder communications and a proactive approach to risk, reputation and crisis management.
