Deputy Fire Safety Advisor

University of Reading - Health & Safety Services

The University of Reading’s Health and Safety Services team are looking to appoint a fire safety professional to co-ordinate building fire safety arrangements. The post holder will undertake fire risk assessments and inspections across the University, organise emergency drills and provide fire safety training and advice. The post also contributes to the general work of the Health and Safety Services team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Organising drills, preparing fire safety plans and updating building emergency folders
  • Providing professional fire safety advice, including on personal emergency evacuation plans for disabled people
  • Delivering fire safety training
  • Undertaking building fire risk assessments and inspections

You will have:

  • Experience of fire risk assessment and inspection
  • Good understanding of fire legislation
  • Good organisational and planning skills
  • A commitment to engage positively with a wide range of stakeholders
