In the 2014 Research Excellent Framework (REF) more than two-thirds of the research at Essex Business School was rated ‘world leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’. This is an exciting opportunity to join the newly established Management and Marketing Group at Essex Business School in the field of Marketing or Operations Management. The group already has more than 15 research active members, consisting of budding as well as world-leading researchers with an international reputation for its cutting edge research in the fields of brand management, sustainability, social enterprise, critical management & marketing and consumer behaviour.

Duties of the Role

The purpose of this post is to enhance the School’s research profile and to both contribute to and lead in developing the field of marketing and/or operations management. The duties will include developing and actively engaging in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and supervision, undertaking independent research in the field of marketing and/or operations management with the aim of publishing in high ranking journals, generating research income, and extending the School’s profile regionally, nationally and internationally through collaboration with other institutions.

Skills and qualifications required

Applicants should have a PhD in Marketing, Operations Management or other specialism related to the area of the post (or be in the final stages of completion). Evidence of research output, either published or publishable, of peer-reviewed international quality, and experience of teaching in the area of marketing or operations management, or demonstrable potential for teaching excellence, is essential.

Applicants should also have demonstrable management and leadership skills, combined with the ability to motivate and coordinate other staff, whilst also working as part of a team.
