Clinical Lecturer in Healthcare for Older People

University of Exeter Medical School, in collaboration with the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust, is seeking to appoint a junior Clinical Academic focusing on research and teaching within the field of healthcare for older people. Research in Ageing, Dementia, Stroke and Healthcare for older people in Exeter spans a wide range of areas including:

  • Understanding the basic molecular
  • Epigenetic and genetic mechanisms underlying ageing,
  • Dementia and cognitive decline,
  • Trials in preventative strategies and therapeutics
  • Promotion of wellbeing in the elderly by, for example, exposure to the natural environment and reducing social isolation,
  • Improving healthcare for older peolple in acute and community services and understanding the needs of carers and family.   

The successful candidate will be appointed at specialist registrar or junior consultant level depending on research and clinical experience. They will have shown considerable ability in research as evidenced by developing independence, high quality publications and grant income.

The successful applicant's area of research will be in areas relevant to older people including (but not restricted to):

  • Improving wellbeing
  • Community and social care research
  • Dementia and mental health research, 
  • Personalising medicine for older people,
  • Molecular, cellular, genetic or epigenetic research
  • Clinical trials etc  

A University of Exeter position with an honorary clinical post with the Royal Devon and Exeter Foundation Trust, the appointee must be eligible to hold an honorary NHS clinical contract and be included on the GMC Register.
