Senior Laboratory Technician

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Senior Laboratory Technician to work in the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology at the University of Oxford.

This work involves both undertaking research on primary human samples and animal disease models utilising a range of techniques including 3-dimensional imaging, gene expression analysis and cytometry to provide mechanistic insight into immune cell – stromal cell interactions in inflammatory and autoimmune disease. You will play a key role in ensuring all necessary SOPs are up-to-date and available to all lab members. You will also have responsibilities to process human and animal tissues undertaking primary cell isolation, quantifying gene and protein expression using a range of state-of-the-art technologies including immunohistochemistry, flow and mass-spec cytometry and gene expression analysis, as well as using specialist scientific equipment in a laboratory environment.

You should hold a BSc in biological sciences, as well as considerable previous laboratory experience. Excellent communication skills and ability to organise samples and record results in a clear and organised fashion and experience with isolation, culture and analysis of primary immune cells, qPCRand Flow Cytometry are essential. Supervisory experience and MSc or PhD in immunology or related discipline would be desirable.

This is a full-time post funded for 2 years in the first instance.
