The ANU Australian National Centre for the Public Awareness of Science (CPAS) is an international leader in the field of science communication. CPAS is part of the wider ANU College of Science (Cos), alongside the Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics, the Research School of Biology, the Research School of Chemistry, the Research School of Earth Science, the Fenner School of Environment and Society, the Mathematical Sciences Institute and the Research School of Physics and Engineering. 

Staff and students within the ANU College of Science conduct research and deliver a research-led education program that encompasses the entire breadth of the sciences, supported by extensive international networks and by world-class facilities. The College has a strong tradition of research excellence that has fostered distinguished Nobel Laureate and Kyoto Prize winners and trained scientific leaders in disciplines in which the ANU is consistently ranked in the top twenty in the world Our research contributes to new ways to excite the public imagination and enable critical engagement and participation in science.

CPAS develops methods to encourage informed decisions about the scientific issues that matter for policy, for the scientific community, and for a range of publics. Our academics are engaged in global conversations about science communication. We collaborate, advise, and offer science communication education and capacity building around the world.

Position overview
CPAS is seeking a new senior colleague as Associate Professor to make significant contributions to all activities of the Centre. The Associate Professor will play a key role in the evolution of the Centre’s research, teaching and outreach activities. They are expected to lead academics in the Centre as well as in interdisciplinary areas across the College of Science and the ANU. The academic leader in this role will be collaborative and will create a strong culture for interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary teaching, research and engagement.

The successful candidate will have a record of accomplishment in independent research within Science Communication and extensive, demonstrated experience in interdisciplinary teaching.
