Salary Range: £40,840 - £53,400 per annum

(Maximum salary on appointment will be £40,840 per annum)

Fixed Term appointment for up to 27 months

An exciting opportunity for a Research Fellow has become available within the Thermofluids Division of the Mechanical Engineering Department.

The main responsibilities of this role will be to support the experimental research activities in the Turbocharger Group. The post holder will liaise closely with academic staff, research staff and students to realize test rig designs from concept through to commissioning and testing, for various research programs in the laboratory.

This person will be expected to manage and execute the construction of experimental test rigs, including but not limited to: initial test rig concept design and design for manufacture; arranging the required services; identifying, procuring and installing appropriate instrumentation; progressing part manufacturing commissioned both internally or externally; and expediting orders for materials and consumables. There is also a need to ensure regular maintenance of various types of laboratory equipment. This person will use their experience and expertise to help researchers to design and conduct successful experiments and undertake other technical work as specified by the principal investigators.

Applicants must have a PhD in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent), with experience in test rig development and construction. LabVIEW experience would be considered an advantage.
