The Centre for Urban and Regional Development Studies (CURDS) is seeking to appoint a Professor of Geographical Analysis. This exciting post involves critically engaging with big and open data by applying new and experimental analytical strategies and technologies in a digital context to enlighten research and policy debates. The post holder will be based in CURDS and the newly established £2m Spatial Analysis and Modelling at Newcastle (SAM@NCL) initiative http://www.ncl.ac.uk/sam/.

Integrating with the core focus of CURDS research on urban and regional change, development and policy, the intersection of spatial analysis with the following research themes and agendas are of particular interest: people and places, innovation and technology, finance and services, and institutions and governance.  

The successful candidate will be an individual of international reputation and standing with an excellent track record of globally recognised publication, high quality research income generation and engagement with and impact upon policy. Supported by a dedicated Post-Doctoral Research Associate (PDRA) for 3-years, the post offers a unique opportunity to undertake leading edge research and contribute to the development of the internationally renowned research centre CURDS and to lead and shape the new £2m ‘Spatial Analysis and Modelling at Newcastle’ (SAM@NCL) initiative.  

Salary will be at an appropriate point on the Professorial salary scale.
