As part of its preparation for REF 2021, and its commitment to excellence of student experience, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join Social Sciences at Loughborough University, part of the School of Social, Political and Geographical Sciences. Loughborough Social Sciences is recognized nationally and internationally for its excellence in research, teaching and enterprise which span media and communication, sociology, criminology and social policy.  The School has an investment strategy to develop cross-disciplinary studies based around its core strengths, and is in a strong financial and student recruitment position.

Applications are invited from outstanding candidates with research and teaching interests across social policy, but candidates with an interest in: austerity; living standards; inequalities; poverty; social justice; or urban studies are particularly welcome.

The appointment will be at grade 7. The successful candidate must have a strong research record and experience of teaching at HE level. He or she will be expected to help lead teaching and contribute to other areas of the curriculum as required, including the delivery and development of BSc and MA programmes. The lectureship will commence as soon as possible following interview.

Candidates are expected to have a completed PhD in a social science discipline, an established research and publication profile, and the proven ability to contribute to the University Strategy of Building Excellence across research, teaching and enterprise in a high-performing HE environment.
