Joint Faculty Communications and Student Engagement Officer

University College London - UCL Joint Faculty Office (A&H and SHS)

This role is located within UCL’s Joint Faculty Office which comprises the Faculty of Arts & Humanities, the Faculty of Social & Historical Sciences and the School of Slavonic & East European Studies (SSEES). This role is part of a team of three posts, led by the Marketing & Communications Manager. The team covers functions relating to student recruitment, outreach, publicity, media, digital and internal communications, and other marketing and communications and events-related initiatives across the Joint Faculties.

The main purpose of this post is to coordinate and develop internal communications and student engagement activity across the Joint Faculty. The focus of the post is on two key areas:

  1. Internal communications between the Joint Faculty Office and academic and professional services staff. This includes the management and development of the Joint Faculty intranet, which involves updating and adding content, and producing monthly newsletters/events bulletins.
  2. Reviewing and developing student engagement across the Joint Faculty, and supporting departments to improve their communications with students from their first days at UCL through to graduation and beyond.

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level or equivalent with professional communications experience, preferably gained in an Higher Education environment. They will have experience of digital content management and up to date knowledge of social media channels and their functionality. It also essential that the person appointed have outstanding written communication/presentation skills, experience in planning and project management and be customer service focused. Desirable but not essential is a willingness to work unsocial hours when required.
