Senior Lecturer Accounting (Financial Management/Strategy)

University of Derby - Accounting

Inspire, Innovate, Impact.

At the University of Derby people are at the heart of everything we do, and we take pride in being a really friendly, supportive and innovative workplace that is genuinely committed to offering colleagues the opportunity to develop a fantastic, long-lasting career here with us.

Significant investment from the University has led to the development of a wide range of new academic posts across Derby Business School, and we are now looking to attract the very best academic talent to contribute to our growing success as we embark on an ambitious expansion over the next five years in response to increasing demand for our programmes.

For this new post Senior Lecturer in Accounting (Financial Management/Strategy) we are looking to appoint an experienced academic to help manage the development of our postgraduate/undergraduate accounting programmes, and work closely with the Head of Division and the rest of the accounting team, to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of our teaching programmes in order to allow us to continue to provide an exceptional student experience, and ensuring that subject expertise, employability and 'real-world' learning and practice are at the heart of the curriculum.

You will have particular responsibility for teaching on (and leading) modules in areas such as advanced financial management/ financial strategy, sustainability and governance, business analysis, mergers and acquisitions, and project strategy/consultancy. However, a flexible approach to teaching on a broader range of accounting and finance modules as necessary is required.

You will be expected to be commercially aware and have the ability to contribute and or lead on business engagement activities and employer focused projects, as well as support our research ambitions by engaging in leading edge practice that informs and inspires research-led curriculum and contributes to continuing subject expertise that will contribute towards the REF.

We encourage applications from a diverse workforce who can help us to achieve our desire to be the ambitious students’ natural choice for quality, support and achievement.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expect everyone who works for us to also share this commitment and to treat people with courtesy and respect.
