The key accountabilities of this role are to develop and deliver research methods course materials, provide supervision for doctoral students and conduct publishable business related research consistent with REF requirements.

  • To join the Doctoral team to assist with the development, monitoring and delivery of the Doctoral programme
  • To act as a key supervisor and mentor for Doctoral projects relating to own research field, although more general supervision in other areas may sometimes be necessary
  • To conduct business related research that is publishable in international peer-reviewed academic journals consistent with REF requirements
  • To be an active member of the Doctoral team, being involved in a full range of course activities including admissions, trainee monitoring and other key tasks
  • To develop research methods course materials for the research methods training in the Doctoral programme and for research methods for the MBA
  • To have responsibility for some elements of research methods courses in EBS. This will vary but is likely to include aspects of planning, monitoring and grading coursework
  • To develop or consolidate a national profile in research in a business related discipline (including attracting research funding) and to conduct and supervise work in that area
  • To attend appropriate programme committees
  • To deliver short courses in overseas locations and other Heriot-Watt University campuses
  • To undertake other duties as required by the Head of School or their representative
  • PhD or equivalent is required
