Research Fellow in Modelling/Experiment of Tribology in Poroelastic Systems

University of Leeds - Faculty of Engineering

Are you an ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge? Do you have a background in Tribology, Surfaces or Interfaces? Do you want to further your career in one of the UK’s leading research intensive Universities?

This role is one of eight Research Fellow positions which have come about as a result of an EPSRC Programme Grant in Tribology being awarded. You will join a vibrant research institute (Institute of Functional Surfaces) and be part of a project investigating the science of friction.

You will work on a project which will seek to develop novel experimental and modelling strategies to understand the lubrication of soft poroelastic systems. The project will integrate the understanding of highly deformable materials with the interaction of an active liquid in the poroelastic structure.

Holding a PhD (or near completion) in numerical methods, ideally related to Tribology, you will have experience of developing experimental validation of numerical models and an understanding of the challenges associated with modelling of soft tribological systems, together with a positive approach to collaborative research.
