Lecturer in Sports Law – UCFB Wembley Campus

The Role

The successful candidate will teach on our Sports Law programme and will maintain teaching and learning standards to deliver an excellent student experience

Key Tasks:

Activities will include:

  1. To teach on designated modules and programme of study as the Head / Assistant Head of Academic may specify
  2. Maintain academic standards and adhere to the programme and module specifications
  3. Design and deliver teaching materials at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including contributing to the curriculum review and enhancement, in a manner that supports and focuses on student learning outcomes
  4. Undertake student assessments and examination activities including the provision of appropriate feedback to students
  5. Engage in continuous professional development
  6. To participate in the department seminars aimed at knowledge sharing and building interdisciplinary collaboration within and outside the department
  7. Be responsible for the pastoral care of students within a specified area
  8. Achieve key academic performance indicators, attendance, retention and achievement
  9. Report to the programme leader on programme performance and progress
  10. Maintain high levels of student satisfaction rates

Working hours: Working hours normally 8.30 am - 5pm but may involve additional and unsocial working hours depending on the nature of the event and occasional travel between campus.

What we’re looking for

  • 2:1 degree in Law or 2:1 degree with a Graduate Diploma in Law
  • Masters’ in Law - preferably in Sports Law or other related specialism (International Business Law; Commercial and Corporate Law; Dispute Resolution; Competition Law; Intellectual Property Law)
  • Law teaching experience in an HEI: previous experience as at least an hourly paid or as a part time lecturer at an HEI
  • Ability to teach on the following modules: Introduction to Law, Introduction to Sports Law, The Regulation of Safety and Deviance in Sport, Employment Law and Sport
  • Ability to contextualise law for sports business and related disciplines
  • Ability to provide a high quality student learning experience (e.g. via large group sessions, small group sessions, supervision & pastoral support)
  • Ability to implement quality assurance processes
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to work on your own initiative
  • Effective team-working skills
  • Ability to work along side peers and professional members of the board
  • Excellent report writing skills
