University of Warwick - Warwick Medical School, Clinical Trials Unit

Fixed term contract for 2 years.

You will join an active statistics group within Warwick CTU and will provide statistical support on the design of large multi-centre randomised controlled trials, conduct analyses of datasets from the trials and contribute to the final reports. Current areas of research include musculoskeletal rehabilitation, orthopaedics, emergency care, critical care and cancer.

You will be educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant discipline and have a high level of statistical skills. Experience of a range of analytical methods, and of systematic reviews and meta-analyses is essential. You will have a high degree of competence using statistical packages, such as SAS or STATA, and provide input into publications in top medical journals.

You will have good communication and teamwork skills, excellent presentation skills, proven statistical and computing skills, the ability to communicate statistical issues to non-statisticians and have an aptitude for both applied and methodological research. The successful candidate will be encouraged to develop their own research ideas and there may be scope to register for a PhD/MPhil.

For appointment at Research Fellow you should have a PhD or equivalent in statistics, medical statistics, epidemiology or other relevant discipline. Where you have not yet been awarded your PhD, any offer made to you will be an under-appointment to the post of Research Assistant at a salary of £28,936 per annum. Once your PhD has been awarded and you have evidenced this, you will be appointed to the substantive post of Research Fellow at a salary within the range shown above. Applicants who are close to completion of their Masters are welcome to apply and, if successful, would be appointed at the Research Associate level.
