PhD Studentship

University of East London - School of Health, Sport and Bioscience

The University of East London (UEL) invites applications from highly qualified and motivated students, for one exceptional PhD studentship in the School of Health, Sport and Bioscience starting in February 2018.

UEL is offering this premier studentship with full home/EU tuition fees, a generous stipend and access to a research training grant.

The School of Health, Sport and Bioscience is an innovative academic community, delivering high-quality research that is impact-led, intellectually stimulating, and highly socially relevant. In the recent REF2014, the School’s main Unit of Assessment (UoA3) was ranked in the top 10 of modern UK universities, with 86 per cent of our research deemed at least at an internationally-recognised level.

UEL’s research efforts are shaped by its location, East London, one of the most diverse regions in the UK undergoing rapid social, economic and environmental transformation that presents both challenges and opportunities for thinking and acting on the city’s future. In addition, London is at the heart of a rich global landscape and UEL is entwined into this landscape through its research engagement with areas of central and local government, science, society, technology, education, health, and arts.

This studentship on offer is fully funded for a period of three years with a maintenance allowance, plus an additional training bursary. The successful candidate will be expected to enroll at the start of the spring term 2018. The competitive application process is led by the candidate, but it is advised to discuss potential projects with possible PhD supervisors in the School in the first instance. For an informal conversation please contact Professor Sally Cutler (s.cutler@uel.ac.uk).

More contact details and background of the specific research groups and coordinators can be located here https://www.uel.ac.uk/schools/health-sport-and-bioscience/research

General enquiries can be directed to the Graduate School - pgrenquiries@uel.ac.uk.
