KTP Associate - Creative Product Designer - User Interaction

An exciting opportunity to enable a recent graduate to kick start their career as a KTP Associate and become a future business leader has become available in a role that introduces and embeds creative product design and user centred design process within Lightpoint Medical Ltd.

Lightpoint Medical is an innovative medical device company dedicated to improving health outcomes for cancer patients through molecular-guided surgery. The company’s intraoperative molecular imaging and sensing technologies have the potential to detect cancer in real time during surgery and thereby reduce the need for repeat operations.

The KTP Associate will be an employee of the University of Northampton and will be based at Lightpoint Medical’s premises in Chesham, Buckinghamshire.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Take a leading role (under company and university supervision) in the user centred design aspects of products in development at Lightpoint. This will include interviewing product stakeholders and users, liaising with customers and observing prototype products being used in clinical trials.
  • The role will involve observation of clinical surgical procedures, including those being conducted on humans, in order to fully understand product functionality requirements.
  • Define user interaction requirements and record observations and research.
  • Think creatively and apply research insights into new product development programmes.
  • Embed the new knowledge within the Company through a variety of methods.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Recent BA(Hons) or BSc(Hons) degree in a Creative Product Design related subject.
  • Good Verbal & Communication Skills.
  • Ability to record and analyse data.
  • Able to communicate design concepts through hand drawing and develop design proposals using SolidWorks.
  • Interest in working in advanced technology medical products.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Leadership Potential.
