The Department of People and Technology, Roskilde University, invites applications for a position as assistant/associate professor in Interdisciplinary Studies in Health Promotion and Health Strategies to be filled as soon as possible. Appointment as an assistant professor will be limited to four years

The research area in Interdisciplinary Studies in Health Promotion and Health Strategies is one of the main focus areas of the department.

The research is based on an interdisciplinary humanistic, social and health research community and is characterized by critical research into health promotion issues and health initiatives in society and in everyday life, as well as critical exploration of political, environmental and educational health strategies.

We are about to strengthen the quantitative aspects of our education and we are looking for a candidate who can contribute to this development process in interaction with the rest of the research community.

Qualifications
Applicants must be able to document the achievement of a PhD degree. We expect you to have a relevant social, health or arts background, with research and teaching experience in the field of health.

The position should be filled by a person who has a clear and solid basis in research theory within health promotion and health strategies and who can document research and teaching experience using quantitative methods and/or combinations of quantitative and qualitative methods.

Applicants should preferably have experience with teaching and guidance in problem-centred project work at university level.

The applicant is also required to be enterprising and to possess good interpersonal skills and to be a visible, active participant in the department’s daily activities, in addition to being willing to engage in disciplinary and interdisciplinary collaboration across the department.

Associate professors shall also document research qualifications at the level that can be obtained on the basis of a satisfactorily completed employment period as an assistant professor/researcher, but which may also be achieved by other means.

Documented supervision and pedagogical up-skilling will also be expected

Assessment
In the assessment of candidates for the position as assistant professor, consideration will be given to:

  • Scientific production
  • Research potential and the ability to promote and utilize research results
  • Experience in teaching and education
  • Other academic experience e.g. from organising research conferences or seminars
  • Ability to contribute to the development of the department's internal and external cooperation

In the assessment of candidates for a position as associate professor consideration will be given to:

  • Scientific production beyond the contribution from the PhD
  • Research potential and the ability to promote and utilize research results
  • Experience in teaching and education development and management
  • An all-round academic experience basis, preferably including international academic experience, e.g. from reviewing or editing academic papers and/or from organizing research conferences or seminars
  • Ability to contribute to the development of the department’s internal and external cooperation

Terms of employment
This is a full-time position, 37 hours per week, reporting to the head of department, Anders Siig Andersen.

The position is covered by the Protocol on Job Structure.
