Information Officer

University of Bath - Careers Service

We are looking for a capable and professional information specialist to help provide our range of information services for clients. You must be proficient working with databases as well as delivering information services and working directly with clients.

You will:

  • contribute to the successful collection of data on the destinations of University of Bath leavers (including the current DLHE survey and new HESA Graduate Outcomes Survey and bespoke University of Bath surveys) and to the analysis, dissemination and explanation of this information
  • deal with enquiries from students and others, supporting colleagues in dealing with more complex enquiries and providing access to the support provided by Careers Advisers
  • assess, select and organise information resources, and contribute to writing and editing in-house materials
  • play a key role in our online service delivery via our website and our client relationship management system, CareerHub.

The University of Bath is one of the UK’s leading universities, with an international reputation for research and teaching and a leading position for graduate employment. The Careers Service supports students and other clients by providing careers and employability information, advice and guidance. We do this confidentially and impartially. We also organise employer events to facilitate graduate recruitment, and we collect and present data on the destinations of Bath graduates, which is published in league tables and widely publicised.

Key attributes for this role:

  • Degree-level education
  • Masters in Information Management (ideally CILIP-accredited course) or equivalent qualification is desirable
  • Experience of information services or comparable work, and an understanding of how to apply professional information skills in the context of the Careers Service
  • Experience of analysis and interpretation of complex information
  • Ability to work analytically whilst retrieving, classifying and providing information
  • Ability to acquire software skills rapidly
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office including Word and Excel
  • Exemplary enquiry skills
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Team person with skills to work flexibly and independently and to prioritise tasks
  • A positive attitude with colleagues and clients.

Start date to be arranged; we would like the new postholder to start as soon as possible after interview.

This is a full time position (36.5 hours per week), and is not suitable for job share.

The post is based at the Careers Service’s new headquarters in the Virgil Building in the city centre (BA1 1JN).
