Associate/Full Professor of Technology Studies (Open Rank)

The University of St. Gallen and its School of Humanities and Social Sciences are seeking candidates for a professorship in the field of Technology Studies starting August 1st 2018.

The successful candidate will be an excellent humanities and/or social science scholar whose research analyzes and interprets contemporary technological developments. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research focuses on digital technologies and their implications for economics, law, society, and politics.

Responsibilities include co-direction of the new “Technology” concentration in our Contextual Studies program (https://www.unisg.ch/en/studium/darumhsg/ kontextstudium/kontextstudium ).

The appointee must be committed to interdisciplinary research and teaching, and is expected to cooperate with the university’s core fields of Management, Economics, Law, and International Affairs. Languages of instruction are German and English. The teaching load is 8 hours a week (roughly 2-4 courses) per semester.

Applicants must have a PhD, first-rate publications, and excellent university-level teaching experience in a relevant field, such as Science and Technology Studies, philosophy of technology, sociology of technology, history of technology.
