Computer Science Teaching Position for Spring 2018 term

University of Notre Dame in London

The University of Notre Dame, a Catholic research university that ranks in the top 20 among American colleges and universities, operates an academic centre in the heart of Westminster to promote intellectual exchange through conferences, seminars and events, as well as its academic program for undergraduate students.

The University of Notre Dame’s London Undergraduate Program seeks lecturers able to develop and teach a computer science elective course to 3rd year undergraduate students.

The proposed course would need to address a topic in computer science or computer engineering not already covered by the required courses of our computer science program.

You would be able to assume that students in this class of up to 20 students will all be in the Spring of their Junior year, and would have already taken the major courses listed in previous semesters here: The proposed course should be the tie to your own area of expertise and interest.  A current list of departmental courses, including electives, can be found here:

In order to consider your proposal, we would ask to see a one-page outline of the course, touching upon material covered, teaching method, and learning outcomes. If you wish to propose a suitable class that you have taught elsewhere, a copy of the course syllabus for that module or class as it was taught would also be acceptable, and, indeed, a course proposal based on a module you have experience delivering, would be preferred.

Requirements: A Masters degree and university teaching experience in a relevant subject area are required for this position, PhD preferred. Candidates must already have right to work in the UK.

Teaching commitment: The class will meet twice a week for 14 teaching weeks between January and early May, on either a Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday pattern.

Dates for the Spring semester 2018 are 15th January, to May 4th

The salary for this position will be commensurate with level of academic experience, in the range of £3,800 to £5000.

To apply, please send your cover letter, CV, course proposal or syllabus, and details of two references to Alice Tyrell, Director of Academic Programs, University of Notre Dame in England, 1 Suffolk Street, London SW1Y 4HG, or email

Closing date for reception of applications: 11am, Monday 23rd October

Interviews will be held on or before Tuesday 31st October.
