This post is seconded to Dorset Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP)

At BU our vision is to create a stimulating, challenging and rewarding University experience, through sharing a unique fusion of education, research and professional practice and inspiring our students and staff to enrich the world. Our highly skilled and creative workforce is comprised of individuals drawn from a broad cross section of the globe, and who reflect a variety of backgrounds, talents, perspectives and experiences to build our global learning community.

Dorset Local Enterprise Partnership is a partnership between Dorset’s local authorities and businesses, determining local economic priorities for the region. Its fundamental objective is to facilitate improved performance of businesses in Dorset, whilst also encouraging the creation and growth of new ones.  It supports a strongly performing, productive and sustainable economy, characterised by boosting higher paid and better skilled jobs.

Since April 2017 Dorset Innovation Park near Wool has been designated as an Enterprise Zone, one of 48 around England. Enterprise Zones are part of the government’s long-term economic plan to support business and the creation of jobs by transferring the leadership of growth to local areas.

We are now looking to recruit an Enterprise Zone Programme Manager to manage the Dorset Innovation Park Enterprise Zone on behalf of Dorset LEP, working in partnership with Dorset County Council and Purbeck District Council. The Enterprise Zone Programme Manager will provide strategic oversight of the Dorset Innovation Park and act as an ambassador, championing its qualities both locally and nationally.

This is a new post that will suit someone looking for a role where no two days are the same and where they can put their own stamp on it. In addition to being a pragmatic lateral thinker, you’ll also need a gift for stakeholder management with excellent collaborative working and communication skills that help you influence at the highest levels. You’ll be working in a fast-paced environment where your ability to think strategically will be thoroughly tested.

You will have an understanding and knowledge of the local Dorset economy, key policy and the political climate locally and nationally. You will also have an understanding of the key economic challenges facing the Dorset economy.

The post is full time, however we will also consider part-time applications; minimum time required is three days a week. Initial contract will be for 2 years with a possibility of extension, subject to available funding.

This post is available for a fixed term period of 2 years from the start date.
