This is a new and exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and creative individual to be at the cutting edge of developments in imaging technology research.

The UCL Hospitals Biomedical Research Centre Imaging Trials Unit (ITU) is the first dedicated unit in the UK to be specifically set-up to meet the unique challenges of developing imaging technologies from concept to clinic. The ITU is housed within the UCL Centre for Medial Imaging and is physically located within University College London Hospital. It straddles the interface between the University and the Hospital and is responsible for the financial management, delivery and oversight of many concurrently running imaging trials hosted at UCLH. The range of trials spans first-in-man imaging (e.g. 13C Hyperpolarised MRI for cancer imaging) to multi-centre Health Technology Assessment trials (e.g. METRIC evaluating MRI for the assessment of Crohn’s disease).

Imaging research is a growth area and the ITU is expected to expand in keeping with expectations of delivering/supporting increasing numbers of studies.

This post is funded for two years in the first instance.

A higher degree (Master or PhD) in a relevant biomedical science or associated subject with subject with experience of clinical trials research.


A graduate with extensive experience in trial related environment is required.

In depth understanding of clinical research and trial management methodology, including applicable regulatory requirements, and a proven ability to apply these to the coordination of clinical trials is also required.
