MSc Studentship: Resident in Small Animal Surgery

The position

This is a Residency position in a training programme approved by the European College of Veterinary Surgery and lasting 3 years, subject to satisfactory annual review of progress. You will be part of the surgery team working with other specialties within the small animal hospital and will receive training in all aspects of Veterinary Surgery including orthopaedic, soft tissue and neurosurgery. You will be expected to study for the ECVS diploma in Small Animal Surgery. Residents will be involved in clinical work and clinical research and will be expected to submit manuscripts for publication based on their research work during the programme. The MSc in Veterinary Science will develop your clinical research skills and enhance universally important skills such as scientific writing, critical reading and statistical analysis of data.

Candidate requirements: The Resident will be expected to undertake informal group teaching of undergraduate students undertaking rotations and a small amount of formal teaching. The position carries responsibilities for out of hours duties, not exceeding a 1:4 rota.

You must be a member (or eligible to become a member) of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons with 1 year in a recognised internship. You must satisfy the English Language requirements for the Masters in Veterinary Science program (
