Chief Technician (Performance)

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Faculty of Arts, Design & Humanities for a Chief Technician (Performance) to join the Technical Services team. This role will have responsibility for managing designated performance and creative spaces and for supporting the needs of students particularly on Dance, Drama and Performing Arts programmes. They will also be responsible for the delivery of teaching and technical instruction to students across a range of performance and creative technologies.

The Chief Technician (Performance) will also work closely with the university's Information Technology and Media Services (ITMS) in the supervision of Performance technicians.

Duties will include the management of all relevant specialist facilities to ensure effective delivery of learning and teaching, research, and external income generating activities, as well as cross-faculty and institution-wide projects. The postholder will also coordinate activities associated with supporting performances, shows, events and exhibitions, both on and off campus as appropriate, and will support the Faculty’s growing digital arts provision.

The successful candidate should have experience of delivering technical support in a relevant performance enviroment, and in providing direct support to students. A creative, positive and flexible approach is essential.
