Instructor: International Affairs

Florida State University London Study Centre

Florida State University London seeks an instructor to teach an undergraduate politics course entitled “Introduction to International Affairs” for Spring 2018. The semester runs from 11 January to 26 April 2018.

This is a 3-credit academically rigorous undergraduate course to introduce students to the scientific study of International Affairs. The course introduces students to the core questions and concerns of international affairs. This course surveys the many distinct academic disciplines that together contribute to the development of an interdisciplinary understanding of the international system. The course examines how each of these disciplines understands the international system, the questions it raises, and its strengths and weaknesses. In addition, the course provides an introduction to many of the global issues of interest to international affairs majors, including terrorism, democracy, and globalization..

The framework of the syllabus for a Liberal Studies course is established by the relevant department. The instructor, however, has latitude in delivering the topics and competencies, and we want instructors to make full use of London’s resources in designing their courses by taking students out during class time to visit political exhibits and institutions.

Classes are scheduled to meet once a week in a three-hour block on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays. The class size will likely be 10 to 20 students.

The remuneration (with PhD) will be £3,300 per semester for class sessions and associated marking.

The ideal candidate will have a PhD in a relevant discipline, and previous teaching experience. Experience of working with US study abroad students is desirable. More information about our program can be found at

To apply for the position, please send a CV and covering letter to Dr Kathleen Paul at  For further information email or call 020 7813 3223.
