A superb career opportunity has been created within our Safety Service Office for a Health and Safety Advisor (Scientific) to join the team on a permanent basis. The aim of this post is to assist the Director of Safety Services in providing a high level of competent advice to the University, its senior and executive leaders within Colleges and Divisions. We will rely on your expertise to support cutting edge science by monitoring and advising on health, safety and regulatory compliance issues, specifically working with academic colleagues and other stakeholders. The function of the role is to ensure the safe working environment at the University, within science and engineering teaching and research environments.

It is essential that all members of Safety Services have the competence and flexibility to support the wider departmental function. In order to achieve this, the post holder will be expected to work as both generalist and specialist advisor.

As the successful candidate you will have achieved NEBOSH Level 3 General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (or equivalent qualification), have a science degree and hold technical membership of a professional H&S body. It is important that you have extensive experience of working within an H&S role including experience within an academic or research environment. You will also experience in scientific hazards, associated controls and working practices including chemical, biological or engineering safety. This exciting and challenging role would be ideal for an individual who has strong leadership skills and is confident in their ability to handle challenging situations.
