Length of contract and % of full-time:
Full-time, starting as soon as possible for one year. The contract can be further renewed several times up to a total of 5 years (including the first contract period).

Salary indication: 
The basic net monthly salary after taxes is approx. 1,850 euro. In addition to the salary, the Research Assistant may be entitled to receive various allowances, in particular: household allowance, expatriation allowance, dependent child allowance and education allowance. Job description:
In 2017, the Migration Policy Centre (MPC) launched the Observatory of Public Attitudes to Migration (OPAM). The Research Assistant will contribute to the further development of OPAM through tasks that include gathering, collating, analysing and representing data from all EU member states on public attitudes to migration. She/he will also:

  • Help to develop OPAM as a web-based resource including adding non-EU countries to OPAM;
  • Facilitate the communication of OPAM results and findings;
  • Contribute to writing policy briefs, reports, research papers and other publications;
  • Contribute to the organisation of events and conferences linked to OPAM.

Place of work: Florence, Italy

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Political Science (or in a cognate discipline) with strong evidence of advanced skills in quantitative analytical techniques, preferably involving experience of data on attitudes to immigration
  • Experience in migration studies, particularly the politics of migration
  • Ability to contribute to the development of OPAM as a web based resource
  • Ability to communicate effectively OPAM work and findings, including through use of social media.
  • Ability to contribute to the organisation of events and conferences linked to OPAM

Languages: Fluent English in writing and speaking plus knowledge of at least one other European language is essential.
